  • Charmaine Anthony, CPDT-KA, Trainer

Charmaine Anthony, CPDT-KA started volunteering at a local shelter in 2001 and discovered a passion that eventually led her to become a trainer with Collins Canine. After three years of catering to the daily needs of the shelter dogs and assisting with behavior assessments, she attained a coveted job with The Anti Cruelty Society's Behavior and Training Department. At The Anti Cruelty Society she holds the titles of Senior Trainer, Behavior Specialist and Registration Coordinator for the School of Dog Training. In the Spring of 2008 Charmaine began apprenticing with Collins Canine and accepted a training position with us in September 2008.

Charmaine has a wide variety of interests both within the dog community and outside of it. Her household is made up of multiple Chihuahuas, but the canine that taught her the most about animal behavior was a dog-reactive Pit Bull. The Anthony residence is also a licensed foster home and the family has fostered over fifty dogs throughout the years, including Chihuahuas, Boston Terriers, Poodles, Chow Chows and various other mixed breeds.

To go along with her range of interests she is also a metalsmith and has been making jewelry for thirty years. During this time, she has raised over $35,000 through her jewelry business for various not-for-profits.

Charmaine's down-to-earth and personable manner has made her clients her devotees.

      About Charmaine's private lessons:

I would highly recommend Charmaine Anthony as a trainer. She is a very pleasant individual whose affection for animals is obvious by her actions. She was timely, flexible, and able to seemlessly incorporate our energetic three year olds in the training process where appropriate. Charmaine listened as we expressed our needs for the dog's training and was able to develop a program that was individually geared towards our dog and our family. She followed up each training session with an email that outlined everything we had worked on and key points for us to focus on as we continued our training at home. Her knowledge of animal behavior and training tools helped us to incorporate a successful training program for our dog. She is very insightful and has many recomendations on how to gain the most benefit from each training session. Our three year olds have gained a high level of self esteem with their abilitiy to get Tyrone to sit, lay down, and come. Charmaine even followed up about a month after our training was over just to see how things were going and if we needed any assistance or had any questions. Collins Canine is very fortunate to have Charmaine Anthony as a trainer on their staff and any family would benefit from having her work with their dog.

Charmaine was one of the best trainers I have encountered. She was always the ultimate professional. I loved her relationship with Woodroe and envied her ability to connect and communicate with him so easily. I would recommend her in a heart beat!
